How It Was
Remember how it was,
My heart an open book;
When you would cheat and read ahead
To say the things I wished most to hear,
And I would jump and yell for joy,
At the realization that you,
Were more than just any ordinary boy.
Remember how it was,
My heart closed shut;
When I would constantly wonder
Why it was I didn’t know you anymore,
And you would mourn and scream aloud as if hurt,
At finding you should have learned instead,
To speak the language of my heart.
