Independent And Alone MAG
I sat upon the uncomfortable seat looking toward the ground
below.
My father's gentle hands guide me forward.
The wheels begin to turn ever so slowly across the
unseemingly low ground.
When I look toward him, he only looks away.
In his heart he wanted to do this for me, to help,
But he was only there to guide me.
His strong arms let go with a sudden push and I was coasting
by myself, independent and alone.
I traveled through puddles which seemed like lakes, over rocks
and through bumps.
He looked at me with proud gleaming eyes and smiled.
He didn't want to admit I had done this alone.
I pulled toward him to show him my newfound independence,
and fell to the hard rocky surface of what seemed to be pure
sadness.
I looked up with tearful eyes and he only looked away.
I climbed back onto the uncomfortable seat
By myself, independent, and alone.
