   Fading Emminence

Cold September, brighter find,
set flame to my world.
And caress the leaves with your chill,
and change them to eminence before they fall away.

Will I have found glory before I die?
no, for I will not have made a difference in this world.

Can I count the falling leaves? Could I count the stars?
out of this human race, will I be the one remembered?
Will I have outshined the rest?

Cold like the moon, and faceless too,
that's how I'll be when they lay me to rest.
A whirl of leaves, a blur of faces,
No one will remember me.
