What You are to Me...
You are the rainbow on my rainy day,
and the morning's first light.
You are the shoulder that I need to cry on,
and the bright white moon on a starry night.
You are my cup of hot cider,
and the sweater that wraps me tight on a cold fall day.
You are my Motrin when I need it most,
you make the pain go away.
However, you are not the ocean's currents,
for they are neither consistent nor comforting.
You are also not the flowers outside,
for they attract the bees that buzz and sting.
But what you are is the bountiful bread that sustains me,
and the hummingbird's finest song.
You are my rulebook in this game called life,
you try to make sure I don't go wrong.
It may interest you,
that I am the rapidly spreading fire,
and the spirited young horse.
I am also the imperfectly painted work of art,
the calming scent of cinnamon on an autumn afternoon,
and the feeling of comfort, yet somehow, remorse.
I may be all of those things in every way,
but you are the set of arms that hold me close,
and always, the rainbow on my rainy day.
