A Barrier Past
Planted firmly to the surface of an aging disbelief,
The hands they grope in the dark for the light,
Thirsty mouths sown shut for the wish for a relief,
Whilst the veins pound less in the night,
We have but some hope at least in this barrier which stands before us,
We have but at least a voice not stuck to the wall to wail in distant chorus,
Lack we the strength however to call upon the voice we’ve been given,
It is somewhere inside of us it is powerful but for our sin it is yet hidden,
It is for the sky that we have thrown a black charm onto for eternity,
That it hides the sun from us in a vague insecurity,
The soul is lost tapered anchored to the impossibility of hope,
The bonds too tight and long snapped the rope,
For ways we’ve come upon this earth to maim souls in disdain,
To cause a loss a grief a shame to leave out by the rain,
To see in red the world that many would see in black,
The dead man’s eye too focused on the gain to notice color lack,
When however will this by fire or water end,
The coming of days when all broken souls shall end,
When the screams of the damned ring out amidst the crows calls,
And the good reap the riches of gold castle halls,
When the righteous long linger,
And the sinners hinder,
And when will peace end,
When there is no more power to mend,
When the torch fire goes out and there is no light,
When darkness once again takes hold of the light?
