Red Sunshine
You blink and rush snow from your face
As it falls all around you
Falls on you like the veil of lace
That you were bound to wear.
The ice was black, the car went fast
But time did not rush by.
Your love for him was made to last,
But now but now he passed you by.
You drove for hours to see him.
To guard him night and day.
Couldn't help when his vitals faded
And you watched him slip away.
You can't eat or sleep without him.
And just living grows harder yet.
When you watched him die this morning,
Your plan was firmly set.
You stare at the sky above you.
It's as grim as the feelings you feel.
No doubt in your mind you will see him,
As you're gripping the trigger of steel.
A single tear escapes you,
And it falls to the ground as ice.
That's how cold your heat has made you,
You pull the trigger and don't think twice.
Far away the church bells chime,
And the sound warms you within.
As you fade, you picture your wedding.
As RED SUNSHINE spills from your skin.
