Pursuit
Alone in the jungle I walk to you,
Clutching the dim light of the falling sun,
I follow the pull, I begin to run,
The trees reach for me as I stumble through,
The night is black, and be darker I knew,
My tangled hopes, though deep, quickly undone,
My feet surrendered to the dusk, each one,
My shoulders bent low, never to pursue.
Though when I melted, your words rang my heart,
My fingers tingled, my feet were revived,
No longer is the pursuit that in black,
But in a wind of luminescent art,
Through the thick, wild jungle trees I survived,
I walk to you, strength anew, back on track.
