Nights
Your head lies in my lap
Tired eyes and open hearts
This is how we spend our nights
This is the part
Where we again and again
lie on the floor
Wishing we had more
but time doesn’t care
All I feel is your breath
bleak against my cheeks
I’ll watch you tear the scabs
show your scars to the world
And if they ever begin to burn
In my arms I will hold
I’ll make the pain go away
Tear out my open heart
shut your tired eyes
This is the part
Where we again and again
before falling asleep
Tell each other it’s going to be alright
Bodies so tangled
Afraid to lose the fight
Your naked heart punches my chest
I can’t help but feel numb
It’s so cold
And if it ever begins to freeze
In my arms I will hold
I’ll make the pain go away
Far away...
It’ll never get too close
And then one day
It’ll never come back
We can win the fight
But we lose the wars
You’ll take a deep breath
And make me yours
