Identity
She kept her identity
behind closed doors
and never let anyone in.
She had tried once,
to give someone the key
to the many locks she
had on herself.
She got the door
slammed
in her face.
She remembered the pain
the overwelming numbing effect
it had on her.
she had felt
like ice cubes in hot tea
and now she
never wanted to feel that again.
She decided it was better
to leave herself
behind her locked doors
than to open them.
