My soldier
There once was a man
Who lived by the sea
A soldier, one so grand
Meant everything to me
On that tragic day
When the call came through
All he could say
was "Remember, I love you"
He packed his bags
He kissed the children
My heart slowly sagged
I don't know if we will meet again
To the base we drove
I tried not to cry
To raise my children alone
My eyes need to be dry
For he is my hero
My lover, my best friend
If he isn't here tomorrow
I will love him 'till the end
So go my soldier
Keep our country safe
My love will be right here
Until it can wake
