A Forgotten Gift
I gave you a present
Wrapped up in:
Home made forts and lemonade stands
Late night talks with tears and laughter
A waterslide made of buckets and shiny, black plastic bags
Weekends mattress sliding down your stairs
Green gunk we claimed to be “ home made beauty masks” that stung and stuck to our faces
Sleepovers and so many days spent together that we might have been sisters
Blue and purple lipstick paired with orange blush and hysterical giggles
Marshmallows toasted in my fireplace on a winter day
Days when we never ran out of things to do
Teasing, anger, laughter, apologies, tears, experiences
Friendship
But then, you walked away.
