Other Side
I dreamed another side of you
Would feel my every pain,
Would bear the weight of every lie
That drops like acid rain.
I dreamed another side of you
Would see past my delight
To the person that I really am,
When standing in the light.
I dreamed another side of you
Would wrap me in your arms
And tell me it would be all right,
And keep me safe from harm.
I dreamed another side of you
Would tell me someone cared,
That after all is said and done,
You would still be there.
I dreamed another side of you
Showed me some true love,
You bore my every pain and sin,
And sent them up above.
I dreamed another side of you
Stood, shielding me with stone.
And then that other side of you
Left me here, alone.
Cause there was no other side of you,
Not that really cared,
You were just a kid like me,
Lost, alone, and scared.
You’d never be that other side,
You’d never know my pain,
I’d tell you all my thoughts and fears,
My voice cracking in vain.
You never could quite understand,
You never really tried,
What became of that poor girl,
Who sat alone, and cried?
She never did get over you,
She knew you were a lie,
That you would break her heart some day,
And yet I hear her cry
“I know this other side of you,
I know that he could help,
That he could show me brilliant love,
Not make me hate myself.
And though I know you are not him,
That he was never true,
Give me one last word from him,
That other side of you.”
