In the Alley
Standing in a dark alley,
trying to protect my children,
sounds of gun shots near,
as shadows dance on the wall of dogs attacking people.
My children begin to cry,
when a tall colored man walks into the alley,
with open wounds covering his chest,
he is covered in blood and falls at our feet.
My oldest gets down beside the guy
ripping his own shirt off and wrapping it around the wounds
he tries to stop the blood.
He doesn’t succeed and starts weeping heavily.
We leave the alley
many more are laying in the road
all suffered the same fate
taken out by the whites for wanting some freedom.
Awhile down the road there is a woman,
she is sitting in a pile of rubble crying,
in her hands a small white shoe,
she is crying for her young daughter

This is very powerful, it is sad that everyone is not safe from the evils of ignorance.
