The Stranger I Cannot Forget
I don’t know anything except your name,
And you probably don’t even know mine.
Isolation everyday; it transpires all the same.
We exist in different worlds; two halves, a broken rhyme.
Our eyes meet in the regular fashion
That they do in every other instance
We cross paths unknowingly in the transition
From class to class; a painful distance.
Your image lingers in my mind like fire,
Those brilliant eyes that hold a serene ocean.
It seems I am hooked, this situation is dire.
You don’t even know, but you cut me right open.
I wonder if we share an interest or two;
An opportunity to socialize at last.
Don’t mind the heart beating through
My shirt—it’ll eventually pass.
I never expected to notice you,
But then, no one ever expects attraction
The moment they spot someone new.
Do they sell an antidote for this toxin?
I still don’t know anything besides your name,
And likewise, you still don’t know mine.
I wish that could change, because you’re not the same.
We could make a melody, a symphonious rhyme.
If only I knew more than your name.
