It Is All That Is
I asked you if I could swim,
You said that I would drown.
I asked you if I could fly,
And you said that my feet are better set on the ground.
I forgot how to ask later,
And soon, I believed that there was nothing I could do,
When young, you dream crazy things
And not all of them turn true.
And so I wrapped my hopes and dreams away,
And pushed them inside my heart.
There were so many that are there deep in me now,
So many different boxes, wrapped with different paper,
That I didn’t know where to start.
But time flies by, the sun goes down and the moon comes up yet again,
Bringing with it the beginning of a new day,
And new hopes and dreams that I must store away.
But coming back to if I can swim now,
I know that I don’t need to ask,
Because there are tubes that will prevent any accident,
Making it a less difficult task.
I think now if I can fly,
And I am not afraid to leave the ground,
I hope that you have heard of airplanes,
I think they are safe and sound.
So the next time, you trample a dream,
And block any source of hope
I suggest that you try and not hold me back with that stale withering rope.
