Stranger
She grabbed my arm and showed me the mirror
Then asked just the question I didn’t want to hear
“Look at yourself and tell me what you see,”
But I stood silent beside the reflection that wasn’t even me
I lifted my hand, and so did that stranger
That ugly person who resembled my figure
I don’t see myself in this thing
I can’t find myself, even under my skin
What do I see? How do I feel?
Everything is pain, and confusion, and all so real
I shape my face and show my teeth
This is the only person I know how to be
I fake a simple smile and go on with my day
But it won't be long before my stranger takes it away
