Smoke
Emerging, it was just something to do,
An act that would become way out of hand,
The problem wasn't bad until it grew,
It started to become more oft than planned.
And now they smile as though they're in a daze,
These people who are far from ones I love,
Imposing fakes who tread through sickly haze,
They make me cry, my trust I let go of.
They say that now those days are past and done,
They've learned, they've changed, these things they do insist,
They say that they'll no longer just succumb,
I hope that they will honestly resist.
I look on as important turns to joke,
I watch and hope that they can clear the smoke.
