The Rain
drip drop
drip drop
drip drop
drip drop
It pounds its hands
upon my face,
as I look to the sky
through shadowy lace.
The stars I see
as bright as night.
I can feel their light–
long for their flight.
drip drop
drip drop
It brings me down
to land again,
but I feel the stars
all descend,
For I am their maker,
their taker, their one.
They have realized their love
and to me have come.
drip drop
drip drop
drip drop
drip drop
They fall from the heavens
one by one
surround me with light–
now as bright as the sun.
I can feel the good
they’ll do for this earth,
feel it growing,
see first hand their worth.
drip drop
drip drop
The pool of light
is enormous now,
and as I rejoice,
it starts to flow,
And it spreads and spreads,
and all through the world
the land is happy–
celebration is heard
drip drop
drip drop
drip drop
drip–
As the last little star
falls from the sky
I wish to yell,
and scream at them “Why?”
But I am their maker,
their taker, their one,
and I should’ve foreseen
the coming sun.
That will take the cool light
and replace it with warm,
so the burn will come
and evil will return,
But at least I still feel
the cool little steel
of the drop
drip drop
drip drop
drip drop
