Where I’m From
I’m from closets full of clothes, from sparkling jewelry and racing trophies
I’m from birdfeeders in the garden, the vast array of colorful wildflowers
I’m from homemade applesauce every fall, and dogs barking
From Uncle Rob and Grandma
I’m from swinging and four-wheeling
I’m from “Your face is hanging out” and “You talk like a popsicle”
I’m from my mom’s side, homemade apple pie and grilled chicken.
From when my dad let us help rotate tires before a race
I’m from the trunk holding all the still frames of our precious memories
The memories we captured and placed in an ornate frame to show the world
