Into the mist

In a city of ashes
a lone figure stands
the rain bouncing off
his broad back
and clasped hands
for it is a man
I can tell by his stance
his feet spread apart
sinking into the land
as i draw closer still
I stop in mid step
my heart skipping beats
my hair dripping wet
I know who this is
I yearn for his kiss
but I blink and he's gone
gone into the mist
