Back in sixth grade, we never held hands.
Never looked into the future,
nor did we make plans.
Our days were tight like a new suture.

Never looked into the future,
life and friends slowly gave in.
Our days were tight like a new suture.
I wish I could have seen it begin.

Life and friends slowly gave in,
nor did we ever make plans.
I wish I could have seen it begin;
back in sixth grade, we never held hands.

We got assigned this piece in creative writing, and I felt this was a challenge, but very much worth it. It has an odd bounce to it, and speaks about the odds and ends of growing up just a little too soon. It helps give a small insight on what life was like for my age, and how we grew up the way we did.
