Like the Wind
Like the wind you float right past me
I turn to face you, but no longer is it you.
You, you're already gone.
All the while your insatiable presence
Overtaking me.
Subtle, yet strong.
You sail through my dreams,
Encompassing my every thought, every wish,
and every wistful tear.
Tears I cry not for you,
but for the memory of what was once, you.
I look at you and you look back at me.
That same bittersweet stare,
It burns a hole through every inch of my fragile heart.
Your eyes dance, telling a fairytale story
All their own.
You pretend not to notice
Not to care.
But my heart is no stranger,
to your gut wrenching lies.
Like the wind you float right through me.
I turn to face you,
To feel that rush just once more.
Like I'm flying for the very last time.
I turn to face you, but like the wind,
You're already gone.
