Knowledge
Knowledge is an apple tree.
A delicate seed
Needing nurture
Give it a plot of earth,
A bit of water,
A ray of sunlight
And watch it grow.
A miniature sapling
Strong enough to battle any weather
After more water
And more sunlight
Tiny leaves will appear
One by one
Until the tree is decked in green
The peak of spring
Yields the fruit of labor
An apple—finally—reveals itself
A deep, deep red
Like the rising sun
Ready to be picked off the tree
And serve its purpose to humanity.
