When She Died
I never understood the transience of life
From a teen's perspective, it is everlasting
Death is a lifetime away.
But then she died,
and my world came crashing down.
I quickly realized those cliches we've always heard
are there for a reason.
Life is short, we have to take advantage of the time we have.
There's no waiting for later.
When she died,
I couldn't comprehend it.
Why her?
But she had a beautiful life
and though everyone cried at her funeral,
they remember her with smiles.
And that's how life should be.
