I Believe
I believe that each bird loves to hear himself sing,
that if we wonder, the gift of knowledge will come,
that our first teacher is our own heart,
that if a man moves away from nature, his heart becomes hard,
I believe that one finger cannot lift a pebble,
But I don't believe in wealth over sustenance.
I believe that we should listen to the proverbs of the people who roamed this land,
in their communing with the environment,
in their respect for the earth's gifts,
in their scorn for wastefulness,
in their unifying veneration of mother nature not as our provider,
but as our responsibility
