Scream For Independence
Frustration is swallowing me
My smile is anger's fueling fee
Guilt is eating slowly away
I can't succumb or disobey
My mouth is a line of self control
About to become a screaming hole
My lungs work but I still can't seem to breath
My skin keeping the anger underneath
So what exactly is wrong with me?
Simple...this person you choose to be
Your rules, your excuses, and your no's
Your lies, your reasons, and your low blows
The girl in the mirror stares back at me
Prompted to fly but then chained to the tree
Straining and cringing against the iron bars
Wanting independence without the scars
Hear her heartfelt cry to be set free
Don't deny your ears to hear her plea
Remember just how great she can be.
Then erase the line and set her free
