Streaks of Madness
They called her Hope,
She didn’t know,
If that was her name,
or if she was just a girl with a streak of madness in her hair.
They called her a sinner,
She couldn’t have known,
If that was her name or if she was,
Just a lady with a touch of black in whatever she wears.
and all she’d ever seen,
was plastic wrapped in a newspaper screen.
and all she ever knew,
was that she’d never be like you.
They saw the smoke,
Now everyone knows,
That Hope was her name,
and she was more than a girl with her heart unfurled,
as she revealed the madness they’d planted in her mind.
and all she’d ever seen,
was plastic wrapped in a newspaper screen.
and all she ever knew,
was that she’d never be like you.
