Summer Sun
With bright yellow rays and prickling radiation,
You wake Earth with much care and compassion,
You throw your blanket of warmth at the world,
Creating bold lives of greens, reds and blues,
Reducing the cold from the atmosphere,
You call to the children,
Inviting them to play,
To dance
To care,
With every moment of your heat,
You call to us with happy defeat,
But as the clouds smother over,
Leaving us sober,
We realize that another summer has passed,
No more clear skies of blue,
No more children playing,
Just the threatening sound of thunder,
With your disappearance,
You have left us in desperation,
Yearning for one more day of you stay,
As the nights get longer,
And the sky gets foggier,
The death of winter arrives,
Leaving us with us with one simple question,
Of pure devastation,
Sun won’t you please come to stay?
