We Are the Future
We were promised leaders
You built and led astray
Told us we had no futures
Left our hope out to decay
Censoring our choices
Driven insight gone away
Left bitter, dark and cold
We have no choice but to obey
Our faith is being crushed
Because the hours never stay
We’re shouting for a longer one
To brighten up the day
Her design made her a fool
Chasing anyone who plays
His dreams were burned to cinders
Our hearts edges left to fray
Reminded of our cravings,
Those desired days in May
Watching memories slowly sink
Wishing landings in the bay
Wrapped up in the covers
Crying, broken we all lay
We all suffered heartless love
It’s our tears we have to pay
Laughing to our cores
So our pain won’t steal the way
We set the best examples
Of the fun you’ll never say
Sun, you should have warned us
Warmth intriguing, as the jays
Never were quite happy
In the absence of your rays
Unpleasant seeds of anger
Bitter, nasty tasting hay
They’re forced into our mouths
Like our hope left to decay
Kings and queens you built us to
We were promised, led astray
Crowning by our tribute
We will make it out okay
