Atlas: A Villanelle
All the world is crumbling
I feel so tired, so worn,
My fingers are fumbling
This weight gained through bumbling
It’s more than can be borne
All the world is crumbling
In all the family’s grumbling
I had just felt torn-
My fingers are fumbling!
I can’t hold it and it’s humbling
Now all that’s left is to mourn
All my world is crumbling
But, I won’t take this pummeling!
No more of feeling forlorn
“My fingers are fumbling”!
I’ll have no more quiet mumbling
This is my lot, it shall be borne:
All the world is crumbling,
My fingers are fumbling
