A Teenage Boy
A teenage boy heads to the drive-thru
Puts on his uniform- an apron and hat
Goes through the day just like any other
Flipping burgers for money- simple as that
A middle aged woman kisses her husband goodbye,
Washes the dishes, and cleans the floor.
Goes through the day just like any other
Running the household- nothing more
A young girl runs to catch the bus
Heads to the city to see her friends
Goes through the day just like any other
Parties and dinners until the day ends
Father of two, husband of one
Trying to bring home food with his pay
Goes through the day just like any other
Working and working with nothing to say
Closing time so the boy hangs up his hat
Looks at his coworker, John, and lets out a sigh
Went through the day just like any other
Nobody’s watching so he kisses his boyfriend goodbye
After cleaning the house, the woman relaxes on her bed
The gardener comes in to ask for his money
Went through the day just like any other
She pulls him close and says, “Here’s your tip, honey!”
Three parties were three parties too many
She still had a fourth one with her friends, too
Went through the day just like any other
In the bathroom, she did what she had to do
After working nine hours, the man’s ready to go
He gets in his car, packs up, and leaves Sears
Went through the day just like any other
He pulls up at a bar and orders three beers
By eight o’clock, all four are home
“How was your day?” “Oh, just fine, Jean”
Secrets and lies run through their minds
And tomorrow would be the same routine
