The Complexity of Simplicity
Life goes by fast.
Just when I thought,
I’d never grow up,
I was reminiscing about childhood.
And it’s gone now.
Like birds in the winter
But unlike them, it won’t
Come back again.
This revelation struck me hard.
And while I sat wondering,
Where it went
The present blew up in my face again.
Life is different as a child.
And I thought
I’d never leave it behind;
I’d never forget it.
Now it’s buried in the corners of my closet and my mind.
And it’s gone now.
Like birds in the winter
But unlike them, it won’t
Come back again.
And there’s nothing I can do
Because in all honesty
The sad fact is
I really just don’t want it to.
There was a time, when I was me,
And up was up, and down was down,
And Monday was just another day with friends.
But now it’s all caught up,
In the complexity of simplicity.
That feeling is gone now.
Like birds in the winter,
But unlike them, it won’t
Come back again.
Because I’m,
Caught up,
In the complexity of simplicity.
