The Birth of Vanity

February 27, 2008
By Anonymous

Shivering and sock-less at seven AM, I crept.
The tips of my toes and heels grazing the ground
The crisp tile shaking me all the way up.
I climbed to the height of the crayon colored stool.

I watched myself:

Ruffled bark hair askew over sandy skin
Blue flannels, blue eyes, cream teeny teeth

Contorting my features and laughing
To see what would happen in the glass.

I met myself.
