My Imaginary Friend
You used to be my best friend
She said to me
But now you’ve got and left me all alone
In your closet of discarded life
She spit out the words
You locked me away
As if you were ashamed
Or repulsed
by my rainbow hair
And mood ring eyes
She whispers sullenly
Don’t you love me anymore?
Don’t you miss our funny jokes?
She asks
No?
Well fine
I don’t miss you either
In fact, I would love to stay hidden
Behind the washed up ballerina
And sad dinosaurs
She yells, flouncing off
Well good
I think
Walking away she says in my mind
Imaginary friends are SO hard to deal with!
