Your Green Eyes
Your Green Eyes
Your green eyes connect with mines,
And I can sense it in my bones,
That I have disappointed you.
Bricks cast in a ballast of stones.
Please, please, tell me it ain’t so.
The scars on my heart yet not healed.
A small stab and the blood will gush,
Pouring from deep wounds yet not sealed.
Your green eyes connect with mines.
You steadily walk towards me,
Closing the gap between our souls,
I can’t take another betrayal.
Life cannot sustain with these holes.
And I can sense it in my bones.
“I apologize!” I cry.
I know not what crime I have done.
But those crystal tears in your eyes,
Down your sharp, angled cheeks they run.
That I have disappointed you.
Guilt rampages through my veins,
Convulsing in shrill agony.
I scramble through my repertoire,
Searching for hate, acrimony.
Bricks cast in a ballast of stones.
Every footstep sounds louder,
And my heel turns about to run,
But I know I have to solve this,
Or my spirit will never feel sun.
