The Poppy Seed Girl
One day as I strolled down the street
I met the girl with the sun-tanned cheeks
Her eyes are like poppy seeds placed all together
The sun always shines around her
No matter the weather
Her hands are all smooth and pretty
Her hair is the color of the copper brown jetty
Those lips of red licorice spun with great care
They entice me every time she pauses
To swing her dashing hair
She moves like the wind unexpected yet clean
And flashes her smile and makes my heart scream
She smells like a flower garden overrun with perfumes
That linger and wave in and out of my room
She may not notice me but I notice her
And her glowing gold eyes
And her wavy long hair
So I guess all I can do
Is to send her the gift today
Just for her to know my love is heading her
way
