Mirror Image
Reflection.
Those sullen eyes
staring back.
Now she sees,
the dread begins to seize
her body, coursing through,
venomous.
Now she sees
what others saw.
Reflection.
Those dull eyes,
welling with tears.
Now she knows,
truths masquerade as prose,
nightmares replace reality,
haunting.
Now she knows
what others know.
Reflection.
Those overfull eyes,
fluttering nervously.
Now she thinks,
I’m on the brink
of the abyss, a lost soul, a wreck,
panicking.
Now she thinks
what others will think.
Reflections,
a life unlived,
lived as a lie,
flashing
before her eyes,
realizations
racing through
her ravaged mind.
That mirror image,
exposing the truths
she was blind to;
the actual image
held the truth, hidden
in plain sight.
Some just need
that mirror image.
That mirror image,
making reality and
her nightmares
suddenly switch,
stays with her
forever, she’s forever
haunted by
that mirror image.
That mirror image,
bringing the story,
the final, tumultuous chapters,
to a screeching
halt.
One
Fell
Swoop
The time
has past
for an
epilogue.
Now she knows.
Reflection.
