I Am a Young Child
I am a young child,
sitting in the lonely dark.
Why do you treat me like this?
I have a big bruised mark.
What did I do to you, daddy?
Did I make you that mad?
All that I really wanted,
an extremely nice dad.
But did I get that?
No, I did not.
And now all I have,
is this old army cot.
When I sleep, I am happy.
The only time in my life,
I can get away from you, daddy.
And so, you go try to find another wife.
Nothing at all can stop you,
or at least that’s what you say.
On the other hand,
I know I will soon have my day.
I am a young child,
Sitting in the lonely dark.
Why do you treat me like this?
I have a big bruised mark.
