My friend has a lover in Switzerland
I know because he carries her picture in his wallet
which he forgot at my house
in the picture she looks too young for him
and while she looks self-conscious
it's not in the painful way of an American girl
at least that's what I see
she's coming this summer to visit him
and by the time she comes
they will have been apart
longer than they ever were together
I don't know if my friend has a thing for foreign girls
or innocent ones
because I think she had

been
kissed
and he says when he tried he got
shaky
sweaty
nervous
and they gave up
he tells me I'm just like her
and me and her
will get along
what he omits
but is still there somehow is that I'm not
foreign
nor innocent
and he doesn't want me
truthfully I don't want him either
