Forever
Now when I say ‘forever’,
I mean it, sure I do,
My love will last forever
For the moon and for you.
And whether we do grow apart,
Find another little friend,
You will always have my heart.
Our love shall never end.
Like the sun in her journey across the sky,
I will grow with you, I’ll glide
Across those skies, like a comet
Star-crossed and curious.
Every flower that blossoms up,
The daffodil, the buttercup,
Under the blue,
why, they do it, too.
To grow and grow up high!
Until our love does burst!
For the wisdom earned matters not;
Unless your heart is headfirst.
And I, somewhat, matter not
Unless your heart is mine
Across the stars, galaxies,
And through the threads of time
Wherever you are fifty years from now,
I hope you can look at the moon.
And somewhere in your wise, old heart
Feel who I was when I was there
And sigh and say,
“I know that girl, and the forever we promised to share.”
