Remember
I remember the dawn of the day,
When I awoke to the thunder in the sky.
I remember who you were,
Who you say you are
And who you forbade yourself to be.
I remember the sound of their cries,
The ones you have been pretending not to hear.
Falling upon deaf ears no more,
Their cries now echoe through me.
No one is what they promised they would be.
You're the spitting image of a magazines creation.
Save your breath. I'm not looking for excuses.
Isn't this exactly what you thought you wanted?
I remember what caused this downfall;
White lies and a compromise of self-worth.
Now i realize what memory will carry me through.
I must remember what and who I am.
