Crooks & Demons
I sit upon the broken shelf
And watch the world unravel itself
While crooks and demons hunt me down
They can't reach, and it's too silent to hear a sound
The ship is sailing far too east
And the crew is dancing on their feet
While Captain is snarling orders
The ship approaches southern boarders
The clouds are enveloping me now
A single teardrop below mermaid's brow
The downpour's clearly begun
I've found every shipmate undone
And if mother would show all mercy
I'd claim this- my voyage- unworthy
I will arrive on land with earthly gifts
But, as I look now that dream's adrift
We're sailing too close- grazing the cliffs
As the ship is sinking I hum a myth
For I had never been so unbearably near
To the crooks and the demons who were once too far away to hear
