It Had Gone Away
When I saw you that day,
I didn’t feel that quiver
It had gone away.
I still remembered the day we met as if it was yesterday,
That 9th grade trip to the Hudson River,
When I saw you that day.
That exact same moment I had imagined you as my fiancée,
Memory that had haunted me like a fever,
It had gone away.
Since I saw you at the park I had though about you everyday,
I wanted to apologize, hoping you’d be a forgiver,
When I saw you that day.
I started walking towards you, but stopped halfway.
You had a family; you were happy, why ruin that with the message I wanted to deliver?
It had gone away.
I stayed for a minute watching the beautiful display.
Seeing you and not feeling that signature quiver was a complete reliever.
When I saw you that day,
It had gone away.
