Extinct Flight
The tiny cocoon hanging on a branch
twists and turns from the warm spring breeze.
The cocoon starts to crack and break.
Pop! Out comes the bird wing butterfly.
Its wings as fragile as thin glass
yet brightly colored like stain glass.
Wings stretched open, ready to take flight.
Soaring gently into the air,
higher and higher, into the sky.
Descending down, landing on a girl
batting its wings, only for show.
Arms moving, only to take flight.
Flying safely high up in the sky
cautious of what path it should take.
Hoping to live, striving for existence.
