Recovery
You wanted to be my salvation
With a temper that could break down a nation
And a fight that would kill lesser men
Constantly raging within.
An addiction is a worthy foe
As it tosses your whims to and fro
Turning your mind against itself
While your loved ones are tossed on a shelf.
You try and reclaim your greatest weapon
So others won’t have to watch how they’re stepping.
You can’t accept being weak
Shattered, lost, broken or meek.
This is the day that change begins
And you’re no longer defined by yesterdays’ sins
You step up and decide this battle is over
While I sit back to watch my unbreakable soldier.
