Sleep
Everything is right
with the world tonight,
and yet I cannot sleep.
The faint light barely
illuminating anything clearly.
As I sit under the shroud of darkness,
the stars are putting on a show tonight.
Against a black ceiling, dots of white;
But that isn't what occupies my mind.
As I think, I think back
to a day of joy, yet colored black-
an expression of emotions
that did not sting like the saltiest ocean,
but ignited.
Could it be called 'excited'?
I think of that day, when all thoughts ran wild,
as she lay on my shoulder, like a sleeping child.
What more could I want? -
I once wondered.
But what was more, it did the mind daunt.
Where are your thoughts tonight?
Floating with the wind, I'm sure.
But will I be able to give light?
To all you wished for, all you dreamed that night.
I hope that for you it will never drag.
I know I'm glad, but
it takes mere seconds
to knock down worlds with the least of weapons.
My mouth is my weapon.
But that I must wield efficiently, lest this becomes a fetter
