Twisted Metal,Twisted Lives
It all started from a call
A call from her boyfriend’s mom
“Can you come to the hospital?”
“There has been an accident.”
The phone fell to the floor
The drive was slow
Rain splattered on the windshield
Headlights blinded her
Her hands shook on the steering wheel
She turned in to a familiar building
The walk to the door, it felt miles away
She saw her boyfriend’s mom
She was red eyed and splotchy faced
What had happened?
What was wrong with her boyfriend?
Reality hit her hard
She knew he must be dead
His body lying somewhere, cold
How, why did this happen?
Why him? Why THEM?
His mom said he was a passenger
The driver had been drinking
The car flipped six times
He wasn’t wearing his seatbelt
He flew fifty feet from the road
His spine snapped; instant death
What to do now?
She would never move on
She lay in bed at night
Just thinking, crying
Hoping it was all a dream
If she could go back
And tell him one thing,
“Buckle up, because I love you.”
Maybe, just maybe
Her future wouldn’t seem so bleak
