Human Nature
The human heart is wretched,
Fickle, weary, and unkind.
The human life is wasted,
On things of heart, soul, and mind.
Each person is completely broken,
Shattered by hope and sorrow.
We limp each day some twisted new way,
Hoping for better tomorrow.
And light is not found in joy,
As darkness creeps soundlessly within.
Tomorrow brings no great healing,
Only a losing kind of win.
Difference is a deadly sin,
Amongst people, feelings and thought.
One is resolute in their standing,
The other should do what they ought.
I guess that's a people thing,
Stubbornness from empty gain.
To prove we're right we fight and fight
Until the joy of the world is slain.
