If Only

Only to live yet another day
Only to smile once more,
Only to last while my hair turns gray
Even if it leaves me unsure,
Unsure of my future
Afraid of my past
Likely to falter
Hopeful to surpass
The sorrow, the lonesome
The failures, the fears
To survive to autumn
And live out the years.
Only for life as time passes away,
Only to live yet another day
