The Armenians' Faith
Try to imagine what they felt,
What they suffered, with what they dealt,
What emotions they had to melt,
In their hearts each horrid day.
Oh the pain they had to swallow,
But their faith they always followed,
And their hearts were never hollow,
“Love one another!” They always say.
They had not a drop of rest,
Jesus Christ was their hopes best,
To relieve them of this test,
To relieve them of these horrid days.
These Armenians with Christian faith,
Had a great reason to show such hate,
To these vile men who tore their fate,
God, show these Turks with whom they play!
They pray.
An Armenian soldier sadly says,
“Let these Turks see that we bless,
Their men’s hearts towards a horrid mess,
It’s what they need, but I hate what I say.”
Another says,
“Don’t you see whom you taunt?
Or the people that you haunt?
We see what it is that you flaunt,
It’s not amusing even your god will say!”
A Turkish soldier proudly claims,
“We see that animals can be tamed,
And our god certainly thinks the same.
Your people are foolish for what you pray!”
Another Turk says,
“Let us burn all that they possess,
And make their city a ghastly mess,
Our god will tear your mild fortress!
C’mon men, let’s increase our array!”
You don’t know what they faced,
But their hearts were greatly based,
On Jesus who let this take place,
“Christ wasn’t there!” many may say.
Everything happens for a reason,
Every change in hour and season,
But no man will understand God’s plan,
No man can understand His diagram.
No one knows why they were accused,
But I know they weren’t amused,
The Turks felt their God’s wrath,
Jesus limited their evil path.
The Armenians – who intended not to hurt –
Received in their eyes the most dirt,
Because of Jesus’ name,
They will have no fame.
But those who claim Christ true,
As the Armenians did too,
By the high God who sits on the throne,
Will be blessed by pain and pain alone.
